RTFO - Renewable Electricity

Article 25 (4) the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), requires ‘credits’ (i.e. RTFO Certs) to be awarded to economic operators that supply renewable electricity to EVs via public recharging points.

Following the publication of enabling legislation under S.I. 664 of 2025, NORA may award RTFO Certs to Charge Point Operators that can provide verifiable data on renewable electricity supply via public charge points from 1st January 2026.  In order to participate in the scheme, eligible IDRO-registered CPOs are required to open an RTFO account.  Please contact bos@nora.ie for further details regarding the application process.

A template for a Statement of Supply which is required to apply for RTFO Certificates for renewable electricity supplied to electric vehicles can be found here: Statement of Supply.
