The Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications signed an Order increasing the renewable transport fuel obligation rate to 16.985% (by reference to petroleum products), by energy, with effect from 1 January 2023. The Minister also signed an Order setting the advanced biofuel obligation rate at 0.3%, by energy  it will also come into effect from 1 January 2023.

The European Commission recently published a consultation on amendments to Annex IX of the recast Renewable Energy Directive (RED II).  The following is a link to the consultation, which will remain open until the 2nd of January 2023 (link).

The Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications, today published an Order increasing the biofuel obligation to 13% by volume (or 14.942% by reference to petroleum products) with effect from 1 January 2022 (link).

The Department of Environment, Climate and Communications has published a consultation on increasing the biofuel obligation rate and the buy-out charge for the 2022 period.  The consultation is published here. The deadline for submitting representations is 5pm on 31 December 2021. Written submissions should be sent to biofuels@decc.gov.ie.
