In accordance with Section 44B (1) of the Energy (Biofuel Obligationa and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010, NORA is required to apply a gas to liquid conversion factor calculated on the basis of providing a fair comparison between a unit volume of biofuel in gaseous form and a unit volume of road transport fuel in liquid form.
Before publishing the gas to liquid conversion factors and following consultation with:
- the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources
- the Minister for Finance
- the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government
- the Environmental Protection Agency
- the National Standards Authority of Ireland
- The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland
NORA is required to publish a notice of the proposed conversion factors on its website and by such other means as NORA considers appropriate inviting persons to make written representations in relation to the proposed conversion factors within 28 days from the date of publication on its website.
NORA completed this consultation with the above bodies and published the proposed conversion factors on the 11th July, 2011 for public consultation.
Following the public consultation, NORA published the gas to liquid conversion factors (Conversion Factors).
