Stocks

NORA meets its stockholding obligation through a combination of:

  • (a) Stocks owned by NORA and stored in Ireland and in other EU Member States with whom Ireland has concluded a Bilateral Oil Stockholding Agreement
  • (b) Stocks held by NORA under short term commercial contracts (“Stock Tickets”) in Ireland and/or other EU Member States with whom Ireland has concluded a Bilateral Oil Stockholding Agreement, with an option to purchase in emergency circumstances during the period of the contract.

Data on Ireland’s total level of oil stocks is posted on the website of the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.
